Southern Pine Beetles

Most people find it hard to imagine how something the size of a grain of rice can be powerful enough to destroy a stand of towering pine trees. However, Mississippi and Alabama foresters know just how destructive the tiny southern pine beetle can be. With the drought conditions of last year and the record-breaking rains of this year, thousands of acres of pine trees have undergone tremendous stress, are in a weakened state, and are especially vulnerable to pine beetle infestations. Walley Forestry Consultants is one of the few companies in the Southeast that offers drone technology to help landowners detect and monitor pine bark beetles.
